Founded in 1991, the Halfhill Auction Group, affiliated with Rector Hayden REALTORS®, has earned a reputation as one of Central Kentucky’s most trusted and accomplished real estate auction firms. Serving clients throughout Central and Eastern Kentucky, the firm specializes in residential, commercial, farm, estate, and bankruptcy auctions.
The Halfhill Auction Group was founded by Principal Auctioneer Jim Halfhill, Sr. and remains a family-led operation with the continued leadership of his son, Jim Halfhill, Jr., and daughter, Kristin Halfhill-Larimore—both Principal Auctioneers. Together, the team combines decades of experience, market knowledge, and a commitment to integrity that sets them apart in the auction industry.

Jim Halfhill, Sr. (Big Jim)
Principal Auctioneer, REALTOR®
Founder Jim Halfhill Sr. is a proud Lexingtonian, graduate of Lafayette High School, and attended Transylvania University. He is currently enjoying his 49th year in the real estate industry and has been associated with Rector-Hayden REALTORS® since 1979. After developing a passion for auctions, he founded Halfhill Auction Group in 1991.
Throughout his career, Jim has been dedicated to helping individuals and families across Central Kentucky through both real estate and auction services. Today, he is joined in the day-to-day operations of Halfhill Auction Group by his son, Jim Halfhill Jr., and daughter, Kristin Halfhill-Larimore. Together, the family combines their individual strengths and experience to continue serving the community with professionalism, integrity, and a client-first approach.
Jim is a member of the National Auctioneers Association, Kentucky Auctioneers Association, and Bluegrass REALTORS®, and is also a Lifetime Member of the Top Producers Club of Kentucky.
Jim Halfhill, Jr., CAI
Jim Halfhill Jr., affectionately known as “Lil’ Jim,” is a proud Lexington native and graduate of Transylvania University. As part of the next generation leading Halfhill Auction Group, Jim combines extensive real estate knowledge with years of auction experience to serve clients throughout Central Kentucky.
A REALTOR® with Rector-Hayden REALTORS®, Jim began his real estate career in 2005 and obtained his auctioneer license in 2007. He currently oversees the personal property division at Halfhill Auction Group, assisting clients through important life transitions including downsizing, estate settlements, retirement, business liquidations, and other major changes.
In 2019, Jim earned the prestigious CAI (Certified Auctioneers Institute) designation — an accomplishment achieved by fewer than 5% of auctioneers nationwide. He is also a member of the National Auctioneers Association, Kentucky Auctioneers Association, Bluegrass REALTORS®, and is a Lifetime Member of the Top Producer’s Club of Kentucky.
Known for his professionalism, servant’s heart, and strategic approach, Jim works closely with sellers to provide guidance, clarity, and confidence throughout the auction and real estate process.
Kristin Halfhill-Larimore, CAI
Kristin Halfhill-Larimore is a proud Lexingtonian and graduate of Henry Clay High School. She joined the family business after beginning her career in the Agent Services Department at Rector-Hayden REALTORS® in 2003. She earned her auctioneer’s license in 2005, began working full-time with Halfhill Auction Group in 2014, and later obtained her real estate license in 2015.
Today, Kristin plays a key role in the company’s day-to-day auction operations, helping coordinate and manage every stage of the auction process with organization, communication, and attention to detail. Her experience in both auctions and real estate allows her to help clients navigate important transitions with professionalism and care.
Kristin earned the prestigious CAI (Certified Auctioneers Institute) designation in 2019, placing her among a small percentage of auction professionals nationwide to achieve the advanced certification. She is also a member of the National Auctioneers Association, Kentucky Auctioneers Association, Bluegrass REALTORS® and is a Lifetime Member of the Top Producer’s Club of Kentucky.
Known for her detail-oriented approach and strong client relationships, Kristin is dedicated to creating a smooth, organized experience for sellers throughout the auction and real estate process.
