Understanding Online Auction Bidding

Learn how to register, place bids, and participate in online auctions through the Halfhill Group bidding platform.

Participating in Online Auctions

Many Halfhill Auction Group auctions offer online bidding, allowing buyers to participate remotely from virtually anywhere. Online auctions provide access to auction catalogs, bidder registration, auction terms, and real-time bidding directly through the bidding platform.

Whether bidding on real estate or personal property, buyers are encouraged to review all auction terms, timelines, payment requirements, and pickup instructions prior to participating.

01.

Access Online Auctions

Select Online Auctions from the main navigation to view current online bidding opportunities.

From there, buyers can browse available auctions, review catalogs, and access auction-specific terms and information.

02.

Create or Access Your Account

At the top of the auction page, select Login/Register.

New Users

First-time users will need to create an account by completing the registration process through the bidding platform. Buyers must verify their email address before placing bids.

If the verification email does not appear in your inbox, check your clutter, spam, or junk folders.

Returning Users

Existing users can simply log in using their username and password before selecting the auction they wish to participate in.

03.

Review Auction Terms & Bid Increments

Before bidding, carefully review all auction terms and conditions. Buyers should understand:

  • buyer’s premiums

  • taxes and fees

  • accepted payment methods

  • payment timelines

  • pickup or closing procedures

  • auction-specific requirements

Buyers are also encouraged to review the bid increment schedule so they understand how bidding advances at different price levels.

04.

Placing Bids

Once registered, buyers may select any available lot within the auction catalog.

Each listing displays:

  • the current high bid

  • the next available bid increment

  • bidding options

Selecting Place Bid submits the next required bid increment for that item.

05.

Using the Max Bid Feature

Buyers may also use the Max Bid feature by entering the maximum amount they are willing to bid on a lot.

The software automatically places bids at the lowest available increment necessary to maintain the buyer’s leading position. If another bidder places a higher bid, the platform will continue bidding automatically up to the buyer’s selected maximum amount.

If bidding exceeds the maximum amount entered, buyers may receive an email notification and have the option to increase their maximum bid.

The Halfhill Group strongly recommends using the Max Bid feature when bidding on multiple items or participating in competitive auctions.

Important Reminder

Online bidders are responsible for reviewing all auction terms, payment deadlines, pickup instructions, and registration requirements prior to bidding.

Questions regarding online bidding or registration can be directed to the Halfhill Group team.
